PRINCIPAL BEHAVIOR ANALYSTS
Shawn L. M. Horn
MS, LBA, BCBA
AREAS OF EXPERTISE
I began practicing in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis in 1993. I first became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2010 after achieving my master’s degree in Counseling, with an Advanced Applied Behavior Analysis Concentration in 2009. I work primarily at home with families raising children, adolescents, and/or young adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, Asperger’s, developmental delays, and attention deficit disorder. I primarily use discrete trials, natural environment teaching, fluency-based instruction, and direct instruction, and my experience includes identifying behaviors of interest, collecting and analyzing data, breaking complex behavior into smaller behavior chains, as well as designing skill acquisition programs to increase functional language and communication, social skills, play and leisure skills, and self-care. I use a variety of behavior change principles and techniques such as positive reinforcement, shaping and fading, chaining, and schedules of reinforcement. I participate in continuing education annually and regularly use peer-reviewed research to drive interventions. I am CPR and AED certified, and I am a certified Safety-CareTM specialist trainer.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE
My background in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis began in 2005 as a Behavior Technician. I have experience providing direct intervention, in addition to supervision of treatment, to clients (ages 19 months to 18 years), primarily with autism spectrum disorder and Asperger’s syndrome, but also with co-morbid conditions such as downs syndrome, attention deficit disorder, Rhett’s syndrome, and mental retardation. I have also worked directly with and supervised staff in working with, non-vocal clients, as well as those with seizures and selective patterns of behavior. My primary background is within in-home and community environments, utilizing discrete trials, natural environment teaching and generalization, self-management strategies, functional communication training, schedules of reinforcement, chaining, and behavior management. I am CPR and first aid certified, in addition to being a certified Safety-CareTM trainer. I received my Master of Arts in Teaching, with a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis in 2011. I have been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst since 2016.
